Today I posted my first item on ebay for selling.

It’s quite exciting!! Though, hopefully this time next week will be more exciting when I learn how much it has sold for!

Green Tea and Tuk-Tuks

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

I bought a book about Sri Lanka recently (as part of my current attempt to absorb as much information as I can about the country).

The book was: A Year in Green Tea and Tuk-Tuks: My Unlikely Adventure Creating an Eco Farm in Sri Lanka by Rory Spowers.

It was (as the name suggests) about him setting up an Samakanda in southern Sri Lanka. I really loved the book. I read the entire thing on the day it arrived and got very, very excited about it. I am now planning on visiting Samakanda when I’m out there. It sounds just gorgeous!

Injections

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

On Friday I made my first trip (of many) to be injected with all sorts of slightly horrid things that should ensure I don’t end up with all sorts of really horrid things.

My arms have practically recovered. I had Polio, Tetanus, Diptheria (in one injection) and Typhoid (in another).

I’ve just got Rabies, Japanese B Encephalitis, Hepatitis B and possibly TB to get now. Interestingly, these aren’t covered by the NHS so I have to pay for them. Which isn’t too bad, it’s better than me getting ill. But I would have thought that the NHS would have figured out it’s cheaper for them to pay the price of vaccinations than it is for them to pay for treatment (but at about £120 per disease maybe it is cheaper for them to just treat people who get ill, given that I’m sure not everyone who would get vaccinated would get sick if they didn’t get vaccinated – hopefully someone somewhere has done the numbers).
